When Lut told His people, you do the Fahisha, the crime, such an action that no one in History before you ever did. What was their corruption? Not only they were disbelievers, disobedient, but they involved in such a thing that they start, they came up and innovated a sin that no one in the past ever did. He describes them as Fasikeen, Kaafireen, Jaahileen. The scholars say, Allah (swt) did not describe a tribe as bad as He described the tribe of Lut. Sodom at that time was the most corrupted, the most criminal city or the most worse that existed. And at the same time Sodom and Muthafika is the most corrupt city that ever existed in History at that time. Who are these people of Sodom? Sodom was a city, a very flourished city where it used to be a station for many travelers and also used to be a place where a lot of merchants used to come to buy and deal and sell. So Allah (swt) sent Lut (as) on a mission of His to call the people of Sodom back to Allah (swt). The Dead sea is where Sodom used to be, a flat land how people live on it and we know why it became a sea. Its on the borders of Jordan and Palestine now, which we have these days something called the Dead Sea. Another name that Allah (swt) describes or mentions Sodom as, Al Muthafika. Allah (swt) sent Lut (as) to a place called Sodom. The mission of Lut was very tough and hard. And Allah (swt) sent Lut (as) on a great mission. On the way Allah (swt) revealed to Lut and Ibrahim, the duty of Lut (as), Allah (swt) chooses Lut (as) as a Prophet and Messenger. Then Ibrahim (as) migrated from Babylon to Syria and then Syria to Palestine. But Lut was the only one from among all those people who believed in Ibrahim. ![]() ![]() So Lut saw this and not only Lut, but the whole city saw that. When Ibrahim casted into the fire and Ibrahim came out of that fire untouched because Allah ordered that fire to be cool for Ibrahim and the fire Obeyed Allah (swt). And He got attached to His uncle Ibrahim (as). Lut (as) grew up in the same house hold as Ibrahim (as), He loved Ibrahim (as), His uncle so much. Lut ibn Haran ibn Tarikh (Azar, father of Ibrahim) was the nephew of the Prophet Ibrahim (as). One of the major incidents that occurred during the time of Prophet Ibrahim (as) was the incident concerning the people of Lut (as) and the punishment that befell them. ![]()
